Both of my LOs are young ( and 6 months) and just got over the flu. My youngest had pneumonia and seems to have some underlying health problems that we haven’t identified yet - her chest x ray was abnormal. We haven’t seen my in laws in a while so when the kids got sick we let them decide if they still wanted to visit while the kids were contagious not, just asked that they wear masks since the kids were still coughing from pneumonia/residuals of the flu. In the visit several hours in, step MIL let it slip that FIL had COVID three weeks ago. They never told us and i feel like they should have told us and not come since my kids were vulnerable and we had made it clear we were concerned for their health. But I also know ten days is supposedly plenty for them to not be contagious. How would you feel? If I had known they’d had COVID in their house three weeks ago I would have been more comfortable postponing a week…Update: we found out later that day after an urgent doctor trip that my LOs actually had RSV too. We begggged step MIL and FIL to please keep distance from their 2 month old grand baby back home because of how bad it can be and how bad it’s been on my kids. They insisted they would. They left our house and took the drive back home and then SIL posts a picture of all of them, baby included, at her house together (that was clearly from that day because they were in the same outfits and had apparently stopped by on their way home to hang out). I’m furious. 😩 It’s on them but still. Reply For verified information about vaccines, visit our vaccine resources page. Trending On What to Expect

Original Post Hi, Britt, and welcome to Grammar Exchange,Hello! Could someone please tell me what tense to use when completing the sentence "How would you feel if ...?" I want people to imagine a situation, so it has not happened but they only need to think how they would feel would they be in such a situation. I was wondering which one is correct:a) How would you feel if you are walking around with worn out shoes full of holes?b) How would you feel if you would be walking around with worn out shoes full of holes?c) How would you feel if you were walking around with worn out shoes full of holes? If you want people to imagine a situation, a counter-factual situation, use 'C'. Thank you for your reply! Is this then also correct:How would you feel if you could not go to birthday parties because you do not have the money to bring a gift? Thank you for your reply! Is this then also correct:How would you feel if you could not go to birthday parties because you do not have the money to bring a gift? The usage of tenses is grammatically correct, and I think you should insert a comma before 'because'. However, to shorten your writing, you had better say: "How would you feel if you didn't have enough money to bring a birthday present / gift?" Hello, Britt, and welcome to the Grammar would you feel if you could not go to birthday parties because you do not have the money to bring a gift? The usage of tenses is grammatically correct, and I think you should insert a comma before 'because'. However, to shorten your writing, you had better say: "How would you feel if you didn't have enough money to bring a birthday present / gift?"While I like the alternative Ahmed has recommended ("How would you feel if you didn't have enough money to bring a birthday present?") and think that "do" can work, the most natural tense to use in the "because"-clause there, I think, is "did":How would you feel if you couldn't go to birthday parties(,) because you didn't have the money to bring a gift? The "because"-clause is essentially backshifted to agree with "couldn't." Contrast that example with this one:How will you feel if you can't go to birthday parties(,) because you don't have the money to bring a gift? Add Reply Membership Required We're sorry.
